Kings of Music: A Royal Concert took more than a year to plan. The original Kings were Gerald Alston, Eddie Levert and Dennis Edwards. Scheduling conflicts ruled out Eddie Levert and Dennis Edwards was unexpectedly stricken ill and unfortunately passed away. We had no choice but to regroup and reached out to Russell Thompkins, Jr. and Howard Hewett. They were both very excited about the opportunity to complete our Kings of Music trio and a new chapter in music history began.
Pre-production, music scoring and scripting took months, and we had weeks of rehearsals with background singers, choir members, orchestra and band. And then it all came together on opening night. It was amazing!
Wedding Bells
Kings of Music: A Royal Concert was the ideal setting for the union of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rice. During a break in rehearsal, the bride, Shelley and groom, Milton, and all the cast members and production crew gathered on stage as the couple recited their wedding vows. Gerald, Howard and Russell were all honorary groomsmen. And they serenaded the newlyweds with a special song. It was a moment we will all remember forever.
